I was born in 1965. Looking back at my
early twenties, thinking I can do anything, honestly I knew
nothing and only wish I had some decent mentoring to discover
what is in no text book and took me years to learn.
Unfortunately, I had to go through 24 years as an insurance
agent and failed three times financially before I got on the
right path. The third failure was the worst and I honestly
thought there was no recovery. I was facing foreclosure, no
vehicle, no real job, and my family was falling apart. In my
weakest moments, I realized the people around me still had faith
in me and encouraged me to move forward because what I thought
was a bad situation was probably not that bad at all and many go
through worst. Best to take a deep breath, and keep pushing,
digging for answers.
One day, I was listening to a
motivational speaker who stated: "If you want success, the first
thing one must do is fix your monies and fix your mindset, and
the rest will fall into place." That one statement changed my
path. So I told myself to focus on getting a job that would pay
me a salary plus commissions for my efforts. So I ended up with
a door knocking job that benefited the potential customers
greatly. Within a month I quit and quickly applied their
strategies to my insurance opportunity and started making some
serious bank. Then I started looking at older more experienced
insurance agents and realized I was looking at my future. Those
agents just had bigger problems than I currently had and I
thought I needed to fix my situation. Like most sales jobs,
there is traveling, selling, prospecting, paperwork, & the
dreadful chargebacks. So I had to choose to tolerate the
nonsense society has in store for me or to create an opportunity
to eliminate those unacceptable conditions.
Through this journey, I realize two
major factors;
1) It is not about the money, it's about
your freedom to do what you want when you want.
2) A job should be used as a stepping
stone, not a lifetime sentence. The same way we graduate from
the first grade to the second grade and on through high school
to eventually either go to college, military or a job (making
someone else rich), we must use a job as a stepping stone
towards our freedom. Save whatever you can to invest in yourself
to put yourself in position to receive from anywhere on the
planet which is exactly what the wealthy do. YOU ARE THE MOST
IMPORTANT PERSON IN THE WORLD TO YOU, The internet allows
anyone, with no discriminations, to earn a great living from the
comfort and safety of their home.
In the year 2002, I was fortunate enough
to work with a real millionaire for about 4 - 5 months. It's
always great to learn from someone that is for real to pick up
some excellent pearls. This individual taught me to open my
mind, never be afraid to ask for the money, and to deliver such
a powerful presentation people will find foolish to refuse.
Unfortunately, this millionaire was too
arrogant to continue working with. His mindset was stuck on only
working with the big elephants as he called them, rather than
the squirrels. He would constantly say 'Don't bring me the
squirrels, bring me the elephants.' He was also conditioned into
thinking he can only work within a 100 mile radius.
I, on the other hand, knew and believed
I can work worldwide with many squirrels to leverage my time.
I've been thinking of my own strategy to deliver since the mid
90s.
